There’s that angel again… Coming on in and changing lives. Today’s gospel tells the story of Elizabeth and Zechariah. They wanted a child so badly, but they were older, and didn’t think it would happen. But God had big plans and he used… yes you guessed it an angel to let them know about these big plans (Luke 1: 5-25).
You know… for all the shade I threw at the the angel of the Lord yesterday, they may be on to something…
During advent, I am always so ready for the tiny baby to come. The newness of it all, and the gentleness of a baby is so exciting and comforting.
But I so often forget that this tiny baby is the King of Kings. It’s really no wonder that Herod felt threatened. It’s really no wonder that people started to question. And its really no wonder that God the Father chose to use an angel to announce His coming.
I want to joyfully announce the coming of a King. I want to help people to joyfully accept whatever comes their way, knowing that the King of Kings is waiting for them at the end of their journey. I want to celebrate the victories. I want to be a shoulder to cry on when the times are hard. I want to be there when times are steady.
I hope and pray I can be this friend.
Today’s song talks about angels. Let it be an encouragement to live your life in a way that helps people to find their way to the King.
