Day 2: We’re Beggars to Be Made Whole Again

December 4, 2017

Today’s gospel reading has always been one that humbles me to my core.  The centurion asks Jesus to come heal his paralyzed servant, and when Jesus says that He will come, the centurion replies: “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” (Matthew 8:5-11)

This line may be familiar to you, as it is one we say during the mass each time we prepare to receive the Eucharist.

How often I must say this to Jesus- I am NOT worthy of you. But say the word and my soul shall be healed.

I first heard today’s song as I was chaperoning a youth conference. When I read today’s readings, I immediately knew it was the song that needed to go with today. In particular, listen to the bridge, and let it embolden you to prepare for the God of Life to enter your heart at the end of this season.

We serve a God of mercy and unrelenting love. Never let your short falls hold you back from allowing Him to change your heart.

You are so loved.

Until tomorrow!
