“It’s so easy to miss the now when you are so focused on the next step. Just enjoy the now.” – Father Rick Martignetti
Dear Twenty- Something,
It’s finally October. The month you have been waiting for since the summer began. The month when everything slows down. Sure, life is still busy, but this is the good kind of busy- full of cozy dinners in and sweaters and socks.
For so long you have been laser focused on just surviving the now so you can get to the next step. But what joy and beauty you are letting fly by while not enjoying the now.
Take this season, full of friends, family and gratitude and enjoy each second that comes with it.
Wake up a little earlier. Enjoy that extra cup of coffee with your Siggis.
Sit a little longer. The dishes can wait. Be present.
On that note though, do the dishes before you go to bed. Don’t put off what will only take a few minutes so you can repeat this cycle tomorrow.
Give an extra hug. Listen a little longer. Reach out to a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Spin an extra record. Read an extra chapter.
Enjoy these moments now, because they are fleeting, and these very moments that seem so small are what gets you to the next phase you so desperately long for.
You’ve got this. You’re doing great. Keep up the good work.
