Dear Twenty-Something,

“Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant with odd little waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don’t always like. ” – Lemony Snicket

Growing up is a weird thing. Society has certain stipulations that we “must” live up to, and sometimes, the pressure from the world makes it seem useless.

But- what truly gives impact to a life well lived? Are plans that are counter cultural really bad?

More importantly- why do YOU feel bad? You want to finish school, and you want to have kids. Those are two good and wholesome goals. You want a big time job and to move out? Those are good goals too! What is going to make you happy?

So let growing up be weird. It’s a strange, transitional time in your life, and it’s supposed to be!

Whether you are navigating singlehood, marriage, a new job, a planned or unexpected pregnancy, going back to school or just doing one more load of laundry- you’re doing OKAY! In fact, if you’re putting your all into it, you’re doing GREAT.

Tell yourself every day: I am doing OKAY! I can live to see another day. I can love a little longer, I can grow a little more. I can swallow a tiny bit more pride, I can communicate a little more clearly.

I can. I can. I can.

Tell yourself: I. CAN. Because you can and you will, and you will be great.
