Dear Twenty- Something,

“The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all the lands love is no mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

Hello dear one. Are you hanging in okay? I know life can be challenging- believe me, I know.

Life can get so overwhelming can’t it? Take a deep breath. There. Feeling more steady? Now Listen:

Mighty fortress, tear down your walls. They do nothing but isolate you. At one point in your life, they may have made you strong, but now they only cause deep shadows to block out the light.

Wall of stone, your tears will destroy you. Let them. As you feel yourself crumble, let others catch you. They want to help- let them.

Oh jaded one, smile. Circumstances all around you make it seem impossible and it is easier to go on the defensive, don’t.

Choose to let others help you. Choose to let others love you. It will of course be humbling, but humility is known to make better people.

Take delight in the small victories. Wholesome meals. Clean kitchen. Cycling Laundry. Time to watch your favorite show before work. See! Better than you thought. Keep your head up, and continue to breathe.

You are going to be okay.
